Late Thursday afternoon a fire occurred at a residential complex which was under construction. The fire was at Maryland Parkway and Silverado, which is roughly several miles south of Mandalay Bay. Still though, smoke could be seen from much of Las Vegas and Henderson; and in fact went past Mandalay Bay and the Luxor.
Flights continued to take off on the familiar departing runway 25 Right. That is one of the runways which is parallel with Sunset Road. It appeared that flights were cutting through or close to the smoke as they departed in the corridor which is not too far south of Mandalay Bay.
Much smoke was created in a short amount of time, but it cleared significantly within half an hour.
