Las Vegas - Too Much

This isn't funny. Maybe it's sad and ridiculous. Maybe it's a warning.

Recently, on Las Vegas Boulevard in the vicinity of The Monte Carlo, a man was so inebriated that he was largely unable to walk without, and even with, the help of his two friends.

At one point they tried to hail a cab, but the nature of The Strip at busy hour is that the empties are staged on the hotel cab lines.

Several pick up and collapses later they seemed to have gotten a little better at helping their friend along. Even so, I doubt that they were able to make it past all of Project City Center without need for another rest.

As slim as the odds are that the incapacitated man will read this blog post and see himself, those odds are still greater than the odds that he will otherwise remember any of his walk.

I would write a public service type of thing here, but the photos have already written it.

One Hot Night At Diablo's Cantina

Wow.

Diablo's Cantina is finally open. At night the place is really hot.

Music playing on both levels. Modern club lighting. Beautiful girls dressed in sexy outfits with boots dance on the upper level (part of the hour) by the glass wall at the Las Vegas Boulevard side.

Everybody was checking the place out. The pictures do not do it justice. They are impressive, but oh man if you are there in person. Whoo! At night, Diablo's is electrifying.

Diablo's Cantina - Las Vegas - The Afternoon Set

Diablo's Cantina is open. In the afternoon, it seemed nice, but not too hot. Pretty girls, but I didn't see quite the level of hotness that I expected. This is the afternoon set of photos. I came back after midnight, and it was quite a difference as will be seen in the after midnight set that will be uploaded shortly.
Design-wise it seems uncomfortable (unprivate ?) to sit on the lower level near the sidewalk railing. I would much rather sit upstairs, especially at night.

Diablo's Cantina Opens 15 September 2007

After work, I saw that Diablo's Cantina had put their sexy she-devil on the top of the restaurant. I stopped and took photos. Then when I got home, I found that I had received a press release and photo from the Light Group.

This blog is normally (always!) me and my camera. But I am going to make an exception in this case because I like what I have seen and read of Diablo's, and am looking forward to going there.

So the photo which accompanies this post was not taken by me. It is courtesy of the Light Group. Also, I am uploading it in larger than normal size, so if this works out, you will be able to click on it to get the larger shot.

Information which I have seen indicates that once Diablo's Cantina opens at The Monte Carlo, reservations will be recommended and proper attire will be required. Please keep that in mind when planning your visit.

Later today, probably tomorrow, I may post more on Diablo's. I've got other stuff too; I am backlogged and getting burned on time.

The press release which is well worth reading follows, (thank you Alex).

Diablo’s Cantina Adds a Sinful New Landmark on Las Vegas Strip

-

20’ She-Devil Erected Atop Two-Story Restaurant

-

Las Vegas – After a ride down Las Vegas Boulevard on the back of a flatbed trailer, the Diablo’s Cantina She-Devil – the symbol of the restaurant’s sinful atmosphere – was hoisted via crane to the top of the two-story restaurant. Sin City’s newest landmark, a 20-foot devilish vixen clad in thigh-high black patent leather boots, a Brazilian-cut bikini bottom and demi-bra, and holding the devil’s trademark pitchfork, now towers over the famed Las Vegas Strip. The full figured three-dimensional she-devil is set amidst a one-of-a-kind 63-foot long “Diablo’s Cantina” animated LED uplighting system which will simulate roaring flames. The sizzling hot statue will be a symbol of Diablo’s festive party spirit where “sinners are welcome.” Diablo’s is the Light Group’s newest restaurant venture opening September 15.

About Diablo’s Cantina:

-
Centrally located on Las Vegas Boulevard at Monte Carlo Resort & Casino, Diablo’s Cantina is a 13,000-square-foot multi-level entertainment complex serving “cross-the-border” Mexican, Southwest and American cuisine. Its open-air design provides an inviting and high-energy environment to help set a festive tone, combining all the fanfare and charm of a Mexican coastal cantina with the excitement and vibe of a lively “people-watching” hot spot. Mixing “Old World” style with modern technology, Diablo’s décor features vibrant colors with rustic tile and furniture as well as 10 large plasma screens throughout for sports and entertainment viewing.
-

An extensive menu of luscious libations, including specialty margaritas, mojitos, sangrias and a variety of rare and exotic tequilas served by a staff of sultry señoritas adds a touch of spice and excitement while roaming tequila vixens will get the party started.

Diablos Cantina - Lights On But Nobodys Home...Yet

Diablos Cantina is almost open. Some neon signs are up and turned on. The main Diablos sign has not yet been installed. Here is a quick look at the state of Diablos Cantina from Wednesday night 29 August 2007. More to come later today or early tomorrow.
-
Diablos Cantina will open soon, at the south end of The Monte Carlo, where the south steps used to be, on Las Vegas Boulevard. And yes, the north steps still exist!
-
Sultry senoritas. Roaming tequilla vixens. -- Two lines from one of the greatest press releases ever.

Diablo's Cantina - Opens Next Month

Here is a brief look at the very recent state of Diablo's Cantina.

The south end of The Monte Carlo has been changed from a picturesque staircase into Diablo's Cantina which opens September 2007.

Diablo's Cantina will have sultry senoritas and roaming tequilla vixens.

They were running a website which had some info, but now that website refers to the parent company of Diablo's, so I am not presenting that link.

Here is a link to the Diablo's page at The Monte Carlo's site:

From what I have read and seen of this place, it looks like it will be rather cool (hot).

The Monte Carlo - Diablo's Cantina in the front, McDonalds in the back, no self parking garage at the present moment.

Perhaps Diablo's will be the beginning of a good turn of decisions for The Monte Carlo.

Las Vegas - Diablos Cantina Recent Construction

Diablos Cantina, under construction at the south end of the Monte Carlo has me sold on two points.

1-Sultry Senoritas.

2-Roaming Tequilla Vixens.

You can read the details about Diablos Cantina (which opens this Fall) at:

Here are some shots of the recent construction progress of Diablos Cantina.

Las Vegas - Diablo's Cantina - Artist's Rendition

As the construction of Diablo's Cantina at the Monte Carlo continues, I have become impressed with the details. Diablo's Cantina will be a restaurant with several bars, live entertainment, and areas with an open air design.

The stone wall on the north side is up. The open air design of the second floor, by the stone wall, is going to be an incredible location, especially at night.

Diablo's Cantina is reporting that they will have sultry senoritas, and roaming tequilla vixens.

I will be following up on this Las Vegas restaurant under construction, in greater detail this week.

The official website for Diablo's Cantina is:

Please note: I am aware that some people thought that the official name was Monte Carlo Cantina. The official name is Diablo's Cantina. Monte Carlo Cantina is the project name being used by Penta Building Group. And apparently they are building one of the hotter places on The Strip. I can't wait for Diablo's Cantina to open.

Las Vegas - Purple Reign - Monte Carlo

Prince Tribute band Purple Reign plays at the Monte Carlo on Wednesday nights, and today is Wednesday...so go.

They bill themselves as a Prince Tribute Show, and are good enough on stage that they are indeed a show and not just a band.

I used to see Purple Reign at The Boardwalk Hotel Lighthouse Lounge. Their final performance at the Boardwalk was Saturday night 7 January 2006, and ran past midnight into the early hours of Sunday 8 January 2006.

(The Boardwalk has since been closed and imploded. Now Project City Center is being built there, as well as on neighboring land.)

According to the Monte Carlo's sign, Purple Reign plays at 10 p.m. and midnight on Wednesdays at the Monte carlo Pub & Brewery. If you need a reason to go to The Monte Carlo, Purple Reign is a good one. You will not be disappointed.

The parking garage at the Monte Carlo is down, and the replacement is not yet up, so the nearest self parking would be NYNY.

Diablo's Cantina Taking Shape - Monte Carlo, Las Vegas

Diablo's Cantina, the restaurant under construction at the south side of The Monte Carlo, is taking shape. The south majestic staircase entrance of The Monte Carlo was taken away for the construction of Diablo's Cantina, which is scheduled for opening in Fall 2007. Some incorrect reports elsewhere had stated that the north majestic staircase had also been removed, but that is not correct.

I don't really have a lot of information on this restaurant right now. It is there being built. I was there taking it's picture. Not much more to say.

Maybe the photo will pick up where I leave off.

Las Vegas - Project City Center At Dusk - Security Man

There wasn't going to be a post until much later, but unexpected events have provided this moment of opportunity to make a short post.

Here we see a view of the progress of Project City Center at dusk, as seen from Industrial. (The more commonly viewed perspective is from Las Vegas Boulevard.

Congratulations security man, you have made it into the world famous RoyVegas.blogspot.com

Project City Center - Las Vegas Nevada

Here are two shots I took in the vicinity of Project City Center, as seen from the backside. If the parking garage at Monte Carlo still exists, I do not see it. Later this week I might be at the Monte, so I guess I will find out definitively what the parking situation is like.
